Redland City Council has today approved a $36 million masterplanned retail and residential development for Thornlands, which will deliver a supermarket, specialty stores, a service station, medical centre, recreational space and new housing over the coming years.
The masterplan includes two precincts – with stage one comprising a 2.4 hectare neighbourhood centre, with a 4,100sqm full line supermarket, a service station, a retail warehouse, medical centre and a variety of specialty stores.
“We decided that Thornlands would benefit most from a neighbourhood centre that could cater for future population growth – with research showing that an additional 3,500 people are expected to move to the area over the next six years.
“Paradise Garden will provide a place for some of these residents to work – with about 215 ongoing local job opportunities to be created – and a place to live, with approximately 40 new homes to be created in future stages.
